How we succeed

1. Trained instructors using a very specific teaching method, the Swim First method, that has worked for over 15 years.

2. Instructors work one on one with the child, adapting to their needs.

3. Instructors who are caring and patient, but yet persistent and constant. This is not a "splish splash let's just make bubbles" type of course. Your children will work hard, but at the same time, will have lots of fun. Our instructors will persistently work with your children and will not give in or give up when children are crying or want to quit. Instructors lacking experience, compassion, or patience do more harm than good and can be the reason for children not learning how to swim safely on their own.

4. Conducting 8 days of lessons as close as possible. Extended gaps or even a few days between lessons leads to painfully slow progression and frustration.  When there are extended gaps, most of the lesson time is used getting back to the point they reached during the previous lesson.  The remaining balance of the lesson time usually is not sufficient to make enough progress to learn how to safely swim.

WHAT WE OFFER THAT OTHER SWIM SCHOOLS DON'T:

  • 15+ years of teaching experience

  • We only offer 1:1 teaching instruction

  • Successfully taught thousands of students to swim

  • A proven method that works

  • Only 8 days of instruction are needed to succeed

  • Patient and compassionate instructors

  • Instructors are always in the water: no lessons from the edge of the pool (for beginners)

  • Lightly chlorinated pool water

  • No pool interruptions - only swim students

If your student passes off guarantees at lessons, what’s next?

After your student passes off our core guarantees at lessons and completes their 8-day swim session with Swim First, we recommend the following to maintain their progress and aide in the continuation of building skills:

  1. EXPOSURE! Go swimming! We recommend you take your child swimming 2-3 times a week, at minimum, to practice. You cannot expect a young child to retain their swimming skills if you do not practice with them. Swimming lessons are not a one-stop-shop. Protect your child and your investment, practice regularly! They should practice everything they accomplished at swim lessons, with you!

  2. DO NOT USE FLOATIES. Floaties allow a false sense of ability and safety. They also inhibit retention of skills and confidence.

  3. Take a weekly swim class to maintain learned skills and muscle memory.

  4. COME BACK! Swim First offers multiple levels of swim classes. Returning students will brush up on safety skills and move onto more advanced swimming. (I.e. strokes, breath work, diving, confidence etc.)
